April 2005
April 28th
What a busy month it has been. Moved out of the hold house (and pumpkin patch) last week. The new house is great but way too much stuff to get done. I have told my wife that we will live out of boxes until I get the patch prep done.
Moved on Wednesday, and started the seeds on Saturday. The hoophouse frames are in place I just need to get the plastic up I'm hoping this can happen tomorrow so I can get the soil warming up. With the exception of the 898 all of the rest are planted for color. Have several 482 Christensen for backups if one or more of the primary seeds doesn't germinate  (
** means thay are up already)
Seeds for 2005
898 Knauss
**
1048 Companion
**
961 Daletas
**
940 Mombert (2000)
846 Jutras
**
604 Jutras
670 Daigle
760 Patrick

Karlie is going to grow the 1097.5 Beachy
** and a Carolina Cross Watermelon**
Blake is going with his 641 from last year and a 895 Hester** (823 Gadberry** is a backup)
He has his goals on the Idaho state record for a squash (better watch out Cliff). Although if I have to use more then one backup I may steal his 823 from him and give him some competition.

Did a new soil test this spring (the first time I've done one in the spring). My K+ went from low to very high. I made the mistake of adding K+ fertilizer and manure. Big mistake. pH is still way to high 8.0, I've added lots of sulftur last fall and it won't start to derease the pH untill it warms up.

I'll try to get some pictures of the new patch up in the next few days.

I need to get the weather station up and running before the pumpkins go out as well
